About OM Design
OM Design is the studio of Ona Magaro, focused on sculptural lighting and functional objects. Working primarily in glass and mixed materials, each piece is developed through a hands-on process that emphasizes texture, balance, and the way light interacts with form. The work moves between art and function—designed to live in everyday spaces while maintaining a strong sculptural presence. Projects range from custom residential commissions to large-scale commercial installations.
The
Founder
Ona Magaro founded OM Design with a belief that light has the power to shape how we experience a space.
A trained glass artist, Ona holds an MFA from Bowling Green State University and a BFA from Alfred University's renowned glass program. She has studied kiln casting, hot sculpting, and glassblowing with master artists across the country—and honed her craft in Venice and Florence, Italy, where she studied installation art and traditional glass techniques. Her work lives at the intersection of fine art and functional design. Each piece begins with an understanding of space, material, and the way light interacts with both.
"As human beings, we have an interactive relationship with light and color because of our complex system of perception. Color inspires us, stimulates us to experience joy, happiness, appreciation, and healing. I want to create these experiences for others."
— Ona Magaro
The Studio
OM Design offers concept-to-completion services with full in-house fabrication by skilled craftsmen.
This gives us complete control over quality—and the flexibility to create pieces that are truly one of a kind. Our process is immersive and collaborative. We work directly with clients, architects, interior designers, contractors, and engineers to understand a project's vision, materials, and architectural context. From there, we design and build lighting that doesn't just complement a space—it defines it.
Whether the style is sculptural, minimal, industrial, or intricate, every fixture is crafted with meticulous attention to detail: precise fabrication, refined finishes, and technical integrity that ensures long-term performance.
